Mindfulness

Happy Monday my friends! It is a thunderstorm here which we all know is not fun especially with kids who just want to be outside. I came up with some rainy day activities for my 3 1/2 year old. She is having a blast!

I’ve talked about mindfulness and meditation a little bit, mainly saying I’m trying to get more into it. So here we are again, I have not managed to get a good meditation routine down. I have been interested in meditation for a long time now, I love the whole idea of it. For me, I am constantly thinking of things; good and bad. I feel like my brain just keeps going and doesn’t have an off switch (like when I’m talking to someone, I can never stop 😂).

This morning I sat down and took some deep breaths. I sat there for maybe 5 minutes just focusing on my breath. It felt amazing to just sit in the silence. When I opened my eyes I felt a sense of peace and calm. I felt a little bit calmer with my kids. Of course they know how to push my buttons almost instantly, but I just took a few more breaths and it was all fine.

My goal is to practice at least 5 minutes of meditation every day. I’m hoping I can eventually practice up to 20 minutes but that will take awhile to get there.
